Good Luck to every one that has qualified for this years Royal International Horse Show (see previous results). It should be a great week at sunny Hickstaed (heres hoping!). Its always one of our favourite shows whatever the results, and offers the best courses of the year.

News at Home!

Just as we are having some yard work done the weather decides to take a dramatic turn, much to the horror of the cement men!! The new rubber flooring on the walker will be delayed for a few more days, painting the stables is limited to indoors and my new stable roof will have to wait a week or so yet! Never mind it will be worth it in the end!

Our lovely young stallion Dieago Forever has been sold abroad to Norway and we wish his new owners the very best of luck. Never ones to sit still for long Nick and Micheal now own another stallion "Pilgrim II", he jumped well in Aachen last week and will be jumping again next week at The Royal International, watch this space!!

Our ponies did us proud once again all jumping great rounds, with Mell and Stan both winning. Emily chose Stan for the championship however Mell came up trumps and pushed Stan into Reserve, thankyou to Georgie for riding Mell for us in the championship you did a great job! And well done to Andrew OBrien for qualifing his Intermediate WH for HOYS with a good win.

Good to hear from Noble Bambi this week with her new owners she was second in the 153cm Open WHP over a strong course at Area 9B- in their words "Bambi is fab"!

Emily Smith and Noble Sorhcas Boy are also having a great season with many wins and mini championships to their credit, and some brillant pictures with lots and lots of Sashes! Well done.

Great News

The great event pony Noble Springbok has done it again, with his current young rider Grace Walker they have been selected for the European Pony Squad. Fantastic news and we wish them the very best of luck. Spring already has three Team Gold medals to his name and Individual Gold, Siver and Bronze Medals. Not bad for a little fat hairy pony we bought in Ireland as a four year old. Grace also owns Springs full brother, a five year old Noble Skyboy.

This week we headed off to our last show of 2009, for the New Years Eve three day BSJA Junior Show at Rowallan in Scotland!! There was snow, snow and more snow!

The yard is as busy as ever getting horses and ponies out jumping, hunting, fun rides etc. The horses are having a slightly easier time as Kelly is expecting a baby, due in April! However there are already plenty of new faces of the equine variety that have arrived,  being broken and/or preparing for next year. Whilst this years hard workers are ruffed off, out in the field looking fat, muddy and happy!

Louise's news from Chevalian Shropshire

Dartans Gilbert, Dartans Sam, Dartans Handsome Jack, Dartans Echo and Dartans Muroto have all gone to lovely new homes this autumn. Gilbert,Echo, Jack and Muroto have moved to young riders and will be evented whilst Sam is hunting in Leicestershire. I wish everyone lots of luck with their new rides.

Burghley

Watership Down came 24th in the great 4 star event. He jumped clear across country taking all the straight routes with 13 time penalities. I am thrilled to have finished well at Burghley as it has always been one of my ambitions. 'Bugs' will now have a holiday doing dressage this winter and then aim for Badminton in the spring.

Dartans St Patricks day and Allegro owned by Claire Connor both competed well in the 4 year old Burghley young event horse final but were unplaced.

Future Young Event Horse Final Ireland

I rode Business time into 2 nd place in the final held at Dollanstown, Ireland. This horse has huge potential and is very exciting for the future. I would love to find an owner for him! He missed winning by one point. Madges Lane spring came 8th in the final. He has now been bought by Jonathan Heywood to hunt. Hopefully I may be able to event him next season!.

Blair CCI

Kismet V owned by Judy Burdett came a respectable 14th in the CCI 1 star. A super dressage and clear xc inside the time was a great result.

Murphys Miracle finished 19th in the CCI 3 star. He jumped well round a big track in tough conditions so I look forward aiming him for Badminton next season.

Chevalian, Shropshire

I have settled in now in Dudleston Heath, Shropshire since moving in June. The yard now consists of 25 horses in work ranging from just broken eventers to advanced horses and hunters. We also have 10 foals to care for as part of the breeding programme. I continue to teach and school horses for people who need help. I am busy hunting with the Wynstay and Cheshire Forest which I love. My hunters are 'Dartans Fred' who has replaced his brother jack and also 'Proud four socks' who I bought from Ireland.

I am concentrating on dressage with my top horses over the winter to aim for a place on the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky next year.

I still come to Thornton Farm once a week to teach my regular clients and catch up on news from the Wirral. 

Over Christmas I hope to hunt a bit in Ireland as well with the Bree and the Wexford.

Then its all go again for next years eventing season.
